Venetian Expo vs Mandalay Bay vs CAESARS FORUM: Which Las Vegas Convention Center Is Right for Your Trade Show?

Large conference hall at Las Vegas convention center for trade shows – Venetian Expo Mandalay Bay CAESARS FORUM comparison

Las Vegas has more convention and meeting space than any other city in North America. But when most people picture a Las Vegas trade show, they picture the Las Vegas Convention Center. What they often don’t realize is that the LVCC is just one of several massive convention venues in the city — and depending on which show you’re attending, you could end up at The Venetian Expo, Mandalay Bay Convention Center, or CAESARS FORUM instead.

These three venues collectively host hundreds of trade shows, conferences, and conventions every year. Understanding what makes each one different will help you plan your trip more effectively — from choosing the right hotel to knowing what to expect on the show floor.

The Venetian Expo (formerly Sands Expo)

The Venetian Expo sits directly adjacent to The Venetian and Palazzo resort towers on the north end of the Strip. With approximately 2.25 million square feet of total space — including 500,000 square feet of meeting rooms within the resort towers themselves — it’s one of the largest convention facilities in the country.

What makes it distinctive: The integration with the hotel is unusually tight. If you’re staying at The Venetian or Palazzo, you can walk from your room to the show floor without going outside. The meeting rooms, breakout spaces, and exhibit halls flow directly from the hotel lobby area. For attendees, this means less transit time and more time on the floor.

Shows typically held here: The Venetian Expo hosts a wide range of industry events across tech, medical, legal, and professional services. MAGIC (the fashion trade show), the International Builders’ Show, and various healthcare and finance conferences have all used this venue.

Location for attendees: The venue is on the Strip itself, which means dozens of hotels within walking distance. Unlike the LVCC — which requires a cab, rideshare, or the Vegas Loop to reach from most Strip hotels — the Venetian Expo is steps from a wide range of accommodation options at various price points.

Mandalay Bay Convention Center

At the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, Mandalay Bay operates a convention center with over 2 million square feet of space. It’s physically connected to the Mandalay Bay resort and shares facilities with the adjacent Delano hotel.

What makes it distinctive: Mandalay Bay’s convention center is known for its flexibility. The exhibit halls can be configured for shows ranging from a few thousand attendees to massive events filling the entire space. The venue also benefits from the resort’s entertainment infrastructure — the Mandalay Bay Events Center arena and a strong food and beverage operation that can support large-scale catering for exhibitor events and networking dinners.

Shows typically held here: HIMSS (the major healthcare IT conference), various financial services events, and a number of technology and security conferences make regular use of this venue. The south Strip location attracts shows that want proximity to the airport — Harry Reid International is about 10 minutes away by car.

Location for attendees: The south end of the Strip is slightly removed from the hotel density in the center. Most attendees staying at Mandalay Bay itself have the most convenient access. For those staying further up the Strip, a ride of 10 to 20 minutes is typical depending on traffic.

CAESARS FORUM

Opened in 2020, CAESARS FORUM is the newest major convention facility in Las Vegas. Located behind the Harrah’s and LINQ properties in the center of the Strip, it offers 550,000 square feet of dedicated meeting and convention space — entirely column-free, which is a significant practical advantage for show organizers.

What makes it distinctive: The column-free design is genuinely useful for trade shows. Exhibitors can set up booths and signage without working around structural pillars, and sightlines across the floor are unobstructed. The facility also has a direct sky bridge connection to the LINQ Hotel and Harrah’s, and is a short walk from several other Caesars Entertainment properties including Paris, Bally’s (now Horseshoe), and Planet Hollywood.

Shows typically held here: As a newer venue, CAESARS FORUM has been actively competing for mid-sized trade shows and conferences in the 5,000 to 30,000 attendee range. It’s become a popular choice for financial services, insurance, and professional association events that want a modern venue in the heart of the Strip.

Location for attendees: The center-Strip location is arguably the most convenient of the three venues covered here. Walking access to dozens of hotels, restaurants, and entertainment options is unmatched. For attendees who value being in the middle of everything, CAESARS FORUM is hard to beat.

💡 Staying near CAESARS FORUM? You’re steps from the biggest entertainment venues on the Strip. Residency and headliner shows at Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood and The Colosseum are a short walk away — ideal for after-hours client dinners or your own downtime. Which Venue Should Matter to You as an Attendee?

As an attendee rather than an organizer, you don’t choose the venue — the show does. But knowing which venue your show uses affects several practical decisions:

Hotel strategy: If your show is at the Venetian Expo, staying at The Venetian or Palazzo gives you the closest possible access. If it’s at Mandalay Bay, the Mandalay Bay resort or the adjacent Delano are the obvious first choices. CAESARS FORUM opens up more options — the center-Strip hotel concentration means you have more flexibility.

Transport planning: The LVCC is the only major venue that’s genuinely off-Strip, which means you need to factor in transit time if you’re not staying at one of the three hotels connected by the Vegas Loop. The Strip venues are all walkable from nearby hotels, though “walkable” in Las Vegas covers a wider range than most cities.

Evening options: All four venues give you access to the Strip’s restaurant and entertainment ecosystem, but the center-Strip CAESARS FORUM location gives you the most options within a 10-minute walk. If post-show dinners and networking events are part of your agenda, proximity to the Strip density matters.

Finding Your Hotel Near Any Las Vegas Convention Venue

Whatever venue your trade show uses, booking accommodation close to the show is consistently one of the highest-impact decisions you can make. Walking to a convention versus taking a 15-minute rideshare twice a day adds up to real time over a multi-day event — and Las Vegas traffic around major show openings can be worse than you’d expect.

For LVCC shows, see our full guide to hotels near the Las Vegas Convention Center. For Strip-based venues, the general rule is to book within the host property first (rates are often negotiated by show organizers), then look at adjacent properties if the host is sold out.
