Black Hat USA is one of the most valuable cybersecurity events in the world for vendors — more than 23,000 security professionals, researchers, and decision-makers gathered at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in 2026 in Las Vegas, and more than 400 solution providers and startups compete for their attention in the Business Hall. That visibility comes at a price. Between sponsorship tiers, booth fabrication, union labor at Mandalay Bay, drayage, and staff travel, exhibiting at Black Hat is a serious investment. This guide breaks down what it realistically costs and where the money goes.
Note: Black Hat does not publish a public sponsorship rate card. The figures below are market estimates based on comparable enterprise security conferences and exhibitor-reported ranges. Always request the official prospectus from the Black Hat sponsorship team for exact pricing.

Open the Exhibitor Cost Calculator →Black Hat sells exhibiting opportunities through a tiered sponsorship program rather than simple booth rentals. The audience is unusually high-value: a concentration of CISOs, security engineers, and buyers with real purchasing authority, which keeps sponsorship costs at the premium end of the tech-conference market. There is no published all-in figure: the sponsorship price comes from Black Hat’s prospectus, and the rest from your exhibitor manual and supplier quotes. The sections below show how to build each line.
1. Sponsorship & Booth Space
At Black Hat, you do not rent bare floor space the way you do at many trade shows: Business Hall presence is sold as sponsorship packages that bundle space, passes and visibility. Black Hat does not publish these prices on its website. Its sponsor page asks companies to request the full prospectus from the sales team, so that document is the only reliable source for the sponsorship line. Ask for it early: the best positions go first, and the prospectus also lists what each package includes (passes, lead retrieval, branding).
2. Booth Design & Fabrication
A modular rental with basic graphics and a custom-built booth with demo stations are very different budgets. Get at least two written quotes from exhibit houses that know Mandalay Bay, priced as rental and as purchase, and confirm what is included (graphics, lighting, monitors, installation).
3. Drayage & Freight
Material handling at Mandalay Bay is billed by the official service contractor, usually per 100 pounds, with minimums and overtime surcharges. The rates and the advance-warehouse deadline are in the exhibitor service manual. Add your freight to and from Las Vegas, quoted by your shipper.
4. Electrical & Utilities
A booth running multiple monitors and live demos needs a real electrical order, and internet is ordered separately. Both come from the official contractors’ price lists, and both cost more after the early-order deadline. Check whether installation labor is billed on top.
5. Staff & Travel
Your team is a major line: flights, hotels near Mandalay Bay, per diems and any passes not bundled in your package, multiplied by headcount and nights, including setup and teardown. Black Hat USA 2027 runs July 31 to August 5 at Mandalay Bay, and DEF CON starts as Black Hat ends, so hotels on the south Strip stay in demand all week. Book rooms as soon as your team list is known, and compare all-in rates: resort fees at Strip casino-hotels run roughly $44 to $57 a night, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal survey. Our Black Hat hotel guide compares the options around Mandalay Bay.
6. The Mandalay Bay Factor: Union Labor
A cost specific to the venue catches many first-time exhibitors off guard: the Mandalay Bay Convention Center operates under union labor rules. Depending on your booth, you may be required to use union labor for installation and dismantle, material handling, and electrical work. This is non-negotiable and can add significantly to your build cost. Budget for it from the start and work with a booth partner who knows Mandalay Bay’s move-in windows and labor requirements — it prevents expensive surprises on-site.
The fee almost no one budgets for: EAC charges. If you bring your own installation crew, AV team, or exhibit house instead of the show’s official service contractor, you will likely pay an Exhibitor Appointed Contractor (EAC) fee. Check the exact amount in the exhibitor manual; at many shows it is charged per exhibitor the contractor services rather than once — so a contractor working several booths can see those fees stack into the thousands across a single event. That cost is almost always passed back to you. Before you assume an outside vendor saves money, open the exhibitor services manual, find the EAC line item, and factor it into your budget.
7. Tips to Reduce Your Black Hat Exhibitor Budget
- Start with a lower tier or Startup City if you’re testing the show for the first time.
- Rent a turnkey booth instead of building custom in year one.
- Book hotels and flights early — Black Hat week (often overlapping DEF CON) drives rates up fast.
- Ship light and consolidate freight to lower drayage.
- Order electrical and internet in advance to avoid on-site premium pricing.
- Negotiate your package — confirm which passes, sessions, and lead tools you actually need.
Is Exhibiting at Black Hat Worth the Cost?
For companies selling security products and services, few events concentrate as many qualified, high-intent buyers in one room. Black Hat’s audience includes CISOs, security engineers and buyers, so many booth visitors have purchasing power or strategic influence. The key is a clear lead-capture plan and a realistic total budget — including the hidden costs above — so the spend translates into pipeline rather than just booth traffic.
Coordinating Hotels for Your Black Hat Booth Team
Budgeting the booth is only half the logistics. If you’re sending a team to Black Hat, keeping everyone in the same hotel near Mandalay Bay — at a rate that doesn’t blow the travel line of your budget — takes planning. Rooms near the venue are in the highest demand, especially with DEF CON drawing the same crowd the same week, and the best group rates go to those who book before the block fills.
Our free Las Vegas Trade Show Calendar shows exactly when rates climb for Black Hat and every major show, so you can lock in your team’s rooms before show-week pricing kicks in.
Book Your Black Hat Hotel Before You Budget for the Booth
Before finalizing your exhibitor budget, lock in your hotel. Black Hat takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and the closest hotels are the most sought after, made tighter by DEF CON overlapping the same week. For a full breakdown of where to stay, walkable options, and when to book, see our complete Black Hat USA Las Vegas hotel guide.
