What Is the SEMA Show?
SEMA shares its week with AAPEX, making early November a near sell-out — our compression calendar maps the tightest weeks to book ahead of.
SEMA takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) every year in late October / early November, typically running Tuesday through Friday. The show spans all four halls of the convention center plus extensive outdoor display areas, making it one of the largest trade shows in the United States by floor space.
- Date: Late October – early November annually (check sema.org for exact dates each year)
- Venue: Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89109
- Attendance: 153,000+ industry professionals
- Exhibitors: 2,400+ companies from 100+ countries
- Access: Trade professionals only — SEMA is not open to the general public
Who Attends SEMA?
SEMA is exclusively a trade show — you must be a verified industry professional to attend. The audience includes automotive parts manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, custom builders, restylers, media and content creators covering the automotive sector, and OEM buyers from major car manufacturers scouting the aftermarket for trends and partnership opportunities.
Buyers account for a significant portion of attendees, and the show is organized around connecting manufacturers and suppliers with the retail and distribution channels that reach end consumers. If you’re exhibiting, your booth strategy should be oriented toward this buyer-heavy audience.
SEMA Show Layout: What to Know Before You Arrive
The LVCC layout for SEMA is complex, and first-time attendees often underestimate the distances involved. The show spans:
- Central Hall: Performance and racing — engines, suspension, drivetrain, motorsport
- North Hall: Wheels, tires, accessories — one of the most trafficked areas
- South Hall: Trucks, SUVs, overlanding, and the popular SEMA Ignited area
- West Hall: Restyling, technology, paint and coatings, new products showcase
- Outdoor exhibits (Silver Lot): Full-size vehicle displays, particularly for trucks and off-road builds
Use the Vegas Loop (free underground Tesla shuttle) to move quickly between the West Hall, Central Hall, and South Hall — it saves 15–20 minutes of walking per trip. The outdoor exhibits require comfortable shoes and water, especially on warm November days.
Registration: How to Get Your SEMA Badge
SEMA registration requires proof of industry affiliation. You must register through the official SEMA website (sema.org) and provide documentation of your trade status — typically a business license, resale certificate, business card, or proof of employment in the automotive industry. Registration opens several months before the show; early registration is strongly recommended to avoid queues and to secure any conference sessions you want to attend.
- Cost: Varies by membership status. SEMA members get discounted or free badges; non-member trade professionals typically pay a registration fee.
- Online vs. on-site: Always register online. On-site registration queues at peak hours can take 45+ minutes.
- Badge pickup: Available at multiple locations around the convention center; the LVCC North Hall entrance typically has the shortest queues.
Best Hotels for SEMA
Hotel availability disappears fast during SEMA week — book at least 3–4 months in advance. The closest options to the LVCC are your best choice for minimizing daily commute time. Note that November temperatures in Las Vegas average 15–22°C (60–72°F) — pleasant for the outdoor exhibits.

Check SEMA Week AvailabilitySEMA Ignited: The Friday Night Show
SEMA Ignited is the official after-show celebration held on the final Friday evening in the Silver Lot. It opens the show to the public for the first time — enthusiasts pour in from across the region to see the custom builds up close. For trade attendees, it’s a fun, energetic way to end the show week, and the atmosphere is genuinely unlike anything else in the automotive calendar.
Tickets for SEMA Ignited must be purchased separately and sell out quickly. If you plan to attend, buy them when they go on sale — often several weeks before the show.
Practical Tips for SEMA Attendees
- Wear comfortable shoes — no exceptions. The SEMA floor is enormous and the outdoor exhibits add significant distance. Foot pain is the #1 complaint of first-timers.
- Bring a portable charger. Your phone will die photographing builds and scanning QR codes.
- Download the SEMA app. The official app has an interactive floor map, exhibitor directory, and show schedule — essential for planning each day.
- Free parking is available at the LVCC and surrounding Silver Lots — a genuine advantage over most Las Vegas conventions. Westgate and Circus Circus also offer free guest parking.
- November weather is ideal for the outdoor exhibits, but mornings can be cool (10°C). Bring a layer.
- Tuesday opening day is the most crowded. Wednesday and Thursday are typically less congested and better for in-depth exhibitor conversations.

Which hall are you in? Pick your hotel accordingly
The LVCC campus is large enough that "near the convention center" is not precise enough to book on. The SEMA Show occupies the West, Central, North and South Halls, plus outdoor exhibit areas, and the walk between the far ends of the campus is roughly 15 minutes above ground.
- West Hall — Westgate Las Vegas sits adjacent, connected by a pedestrian walkway, and has its own Monorail station. Resorts World is about 0.8 miles but connects via the Vegas Loop in minutes.
- Central Hall — the Renaissance Las Vegas is directly across Paradise Road; the Courtyard and the Paradise Road business-hotel cluster are a short walk. The Grand Plaza Loop station serves Central and North.
- North Hall — Westgate is roughly a five-minute walk; the Grand Plaza Loop station is the fastest campus connection.
- South Hall — the Las Vegas Monorail stops here, which makes mid-Strip properties (Harrah's, The LINQ, Flamingo, MGM Grand) more practical than their map distance suggests.
The Vegas Loop changes the maths. The free underground Tesla shuttle links the halls — West Hall to Central takes about two minutes versus a fifteen-minute walk — and is included with your show badge on event days. A hotel near the "wrong" hall matters far less than it used to, provided you are on the Loop network.

SEMA Show 2027 Las Vegas
SEMA Show 2027 will return to the Las Vegas Convention Center in early November 2027. Official dates have not yet been announced by SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) as of September 2026. Based on historical patterns, SEMA 2027 is expected to run Tuesday-Friday in the first week of November 2027 — the same LVCC footprint (1.2 million sq ft, Central + North + West halls) as prior years. SEMA 2026 runs November 3-6; SEMA 2027 will likely follow a similar schedule.
For SEMA 2027 hotel planning: book as soon as dates are announced — SEMA is a Tier 1 citywide event (153,000+ attendees) and LVCC-adjacent hotels sell out 3-4 months in advance. Las Vegas baseline ADR: $157/night (LVCVA, July 2026). During SEMA week, rates rise above that baseline. LasVegasTrade Price Watch (Google Hotels listed prices, all-in including taxes and fees) showed an average of $127/night, with a high of $238, on September 27, 36 days before the show. Prices usually climb closer to the date, so check live rates. Monitor SEMA 2027 Las Vegas hotel availability
