Las Vegas Trade Show Guide

Las Vegas Hotel Compression Index

Last updated: October 15, 2026. Readings every Monday and Thursday.

Quick answer

Update, October 15: the CES and SEMA jump we reported on October 12 did not hold. Three days later, on the same hotels, CES 2027 week fell 17.5% and SEMA 2026 fell 13.8%. Most of both moves came from a handful of properties: Westgate Las Vegas went from $284 (Sept 27) to $460 (Oct 12) and back to $296 (Oct 15) for CES week, and MainStay Suites LVCC returned to its September price. The reference week stayed flat (+0.1%). Our reading: single readings are noisy, and no show week has shown a lasting price climb yet. We now compare averages over several readings before calling a trend.

Every trade show attendee asks the same question: are hotel prices for my show week already climbing, or can I wait? Nobody publishes that answer ahead of time. Official figures arrive after the fact. This page tracks it while it happens.

Earlier reading: price change on the same hotels, September 27 to October 12, 2026 (CES and SEMA moves reversed on October 15, see update above)

What the numbers say

CES and SEMA are tightening. Both rose about 21 to 23% on identical hotels in two weeks, far ahead of the reference week. If you attend either show and have not booked, the early window is closing.

The market itself is calm. Our reference week in February 2027, with no major show, barely moved. That is what makes the CES and SEMA increases meaningful: they are show-driven, not a citywide rise.

Mid-size shows can get cheaper at the last minute. IMEX America hotels dropped 19.5% between late September and show week. World of Concrete is also softer so far. Waiting is not always a mistake, but it is a bet.

How we measure

LVT Price Watch records the prices Google Hotels displays to travelers for each tracked show week, collected automatically twice a week (Monday and Thursday). We record the per-night price with taxes and resort fees included, because that is what you actually pay.

Because Google returns a slightly different list of hotels each time, raw averages can move just because the sample changed. To avoid that, this index only compares hotels present in both readings, identified by a stable Google hotel ID. We only publish a figure when at least 10 hotels match.

Limits: samples of 10 to 18 hotels are small, the series started on September 27, 2026, and displayed prices change daily. Read these figures as a direction, not a forecast, and always check the live rate before booking. LasVegasTrade.com is independent and earns a commission on some bookings, which does not affect the data.
